Easter Crafts 

Over the last few years as part of the Jorvik Viking Festival kids have been able to find  get hands on with history by making their own shields, crowns and even their own replica poo fossil! This Easter get crafty and learn how to make all of these plus bake your own medieval bread. 

Shield Making 

Little vikings in training, create your very own shield from everyday items you would find around the home. Armed with cardboard, foil and a colourful pattern. You too can go on your own Viking adventure, shield in hand. Watch and follow along with this short instructional video on how to make your own Viking shield.

Medieval Rustic Cob  

This Easter, let’s get baking and make a medieval rustic cob. Delicious and easy to make, featuring easy to find ingredients from the back of the cupboard. Follow along with this guide and you’ll be a medieval baker in no time at all.

Replica Poo 

Poo, why are archaeologists so excited by it? Learn about the dietary, cultural and trade evidence that poo provides while creating your very own salt-dough replica, complete with parasitic worms, grains and fish bones. Just like the world famous Lloyds Bank Coprolite, currently displayed at the JORVIK Viking Centre.
